What better way to usher in the birth of your new cousin than with a blog? I ask you. Welcome to the world Archie. So, nice news, deserves a nice link, and this week it’s been extremely nice getting to know David Holmes, who is the founder of thoughtful electro label Summer Rain Recordings, just a little bit better. And we’re talking some seriously do-gooding but in a positive and nice way. Kaimana Worldwide are currently featuring the UK-based talents of Summer Rain’s About 9, and Summer Rain were kind enough this week to let me take a listen to it’s back catelogue of EP’s from a wealth of talented, diverse and generous group of people. Summer Rain’s drive and initiative comes in the form of charitable donations from all it’s artists and members, who give a percentage of all profits to NextAid, an organisation concerned with the welfare of African children. It’s a truly huge and stunning effort, not least being so involved with such a great cause, but to run a business and label around a concept may suggest that focus is easily lost, but it isn’t. The music speaks volumes for itself and for Summer Rain, the added extra in the bundle is that when you buy their music, which in my personal opinion is packed with quality and a range to suit all who are interested the electronic community, you can also be blissfully unaware that for once, when you’re getting, you’re also giving. Check out the roster or alternatively, you can now find the artists on blip.fm. You won’t be disappointed.
