My head has been spinning the last few weeks. The upturn in work was expected due to the hollow promises left by summer, but they are yet to diminish. And though work has been a steady progression throughout these last few months, the increase in the size of my ‘in-tray’ has also been of no help to this blog. That is to say, until a day like today when I get a chance to write properly and actually have news.instead of just tat.
As you may have read already, Kaimana are branching out and I am on board, trying to help out with the music side of things. There are lots of legal bits and pieces involved in setting this kind of venture up; the basic premise of the website is to promote Kaimana through the free promotion of unsigned acts and musicians. As you may or may not understand, there are a lot of things we have to cover ourselves against. It almost seems a shame that we have to bother. I bet past generations of champions for the unsigned didn’t start off having to cover their backs. Subsequently though, I imagine their dismay may have found the same degree as that of my own. However, I’m trying not to sound so naïve and of course I realise that these procedures are necessary.
Let’s suppose for a moment that the above paragraph does nothing to promote the cause of the website. Let’s just suppose. I really am very, very positive about this new venture and this positive energy is being maintained at the moment, buoyed by the fact that we already have some incredibly talented acts interested and involved. I won’t spoil the surprise for me, you or them. I will of course post about it as soon as they are featured.
For now, you can see the ongoing progress of this project take shape if you don’t mind the conformity or connotations of myspace, here. Again, if you or your band are interested in a bit of free promotion, then contact me personally on music@kaimanaworlwide.com.
God, it’s just started pissing down again. I swear if I wasn’t expecting it, I’d be depressed. I love the summer and winter in equal amounts, for the forms they took when I was a child. Too much of either cannot rationally be seen as a good thing. I think I can feel the S.A.D. creeping in.
